"So, will you do it, Mel ?"
I looked up from my books and stared at Mr. Firman. "Um... What?"
My name's Mellisa. In the middle of September, an invitation for competition came right in front of me.
The day after, my classmate--Engel--and I went to the music room and met some of our upperclassmen--Cassius, Beckham, and Madeline--and my sister, Metta. Soon after, Mr. Firman came in.
"We had two songs, Kicir- Kicir and Ibu Pertiwi."
Weeks after weeks, we practiced and practiced. Harmonies were smoothen and speeds were counted. I didn't know what others thought, but I personally felt like our improvisation scratches were beginning to take form. And that thought, got me more serious with these songs.
On a day break, Mr. Firman invited me, Engel, and Beckham went to a technical meeting in Bonavita. The meeting explained rules and information. We also got to draw the performing order, in which we got the first chance.
Days were skipped with practices and anxieties, until the day came.
The place in Summarecon Mall Serpong was as crowded as ever, but the stage in Broadway there stood out the most.
'Which is where I'll perform,' I thought, as I walked up on to the stage. But strangely enough, I felt no butterflies in my stomach. 'Not as nervous as I thought?'
I began to check the sound of my violin. I looked at Engel, then Madeline. We nodded a bit for a last-minute-encouragement. After that, we started.
